WATER NOTICE

THE OSCEOLA RURAL WATER ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED. YOU COULD STILL EXPERIENCE SOME DISCOLORED WATER UNTIL THE LINES HAVE CLEARED. PLEASE CONTACT CITY HALL IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS 712-446-2243.

FLUSHING HYDRANTS

THE CITY OF SUTHERLAND WILL BE FLUSHING WATER HYDRANTS THE WEEK OF JUNE 3, 2024. THIS IS NEEDED TO HELP KEEP THE WATER LINES FREE OF MINERALS DEPOSITS. YOU MAY EXPERIENCE SOME WATER DISCOLORATION DURING AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FLUSHING. IF YOU DO, YOU NEED TO RUN YOUR WATER UNTIL IT IS CLEAR. REMEMBER TO CHECK THE HOT WATER TO SEE IF THE DISCOLORED WATER WENT TO YOUR WATER HEATER. TRY TO AVOID LAUNDERING WHITES AND LIGHT COLORS WHILE YOU HAVE DISCOLORED WATER. YOU MAY ALSO EXPERIENCE SOME DECREASE IN WATER PRESSURE DURING THE FLUSHING. THIS WILL BE TEMPORARY AND SHOULD RETURN TO NORMAL ON ITS OWN AFTER THE FLUSHING IS COMPLETED IN YOUR AREA. WATER REPORT WILL NOT BE MAILED

The Sutherland Consumer Confidence Report for the Sutherland Water Supply will be published in the O’Brien County’s Bell-Times Courier May 16th. The report can be found at the Gen N.B. Baker Library, Sutherland Post Office, city website at www.sutherlandiowa.com or copies are available at City Hall upon request.

City of Sutherland – Seasonal Job Opening

The City of Sutherland is taking applications for a seasonal job opening for the Park Custodian. This person will be responsible for opening and closing the shelter house and cleaning after the rentals. This position is for the spring, summer, and fall 2024 seasons. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. EOE.

Applications can be picked up at City Hall, 110 Ash St, Sutherland, IA or found on the City’s website – sutherlandiowa.com. Applications are due by noon on March 28, 2024 at City Hall.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The City of Sutherland’s utility bill will be delayed in July. The due date will be adjusted accordingly. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please call City Hall 712-446-2243 with any questions.

WARNING SIREN OUTAGE

The outdoor warning siren in Sutherland is currently inoperable. The City is looking into the repairs but at this time does not know how long the outage will continue.  

 

To help ensure safety, residents are encouraged to find other sources for weather related emergencies like ALERT IOWA https://homelandsecurity.iowa.gov/alert-iowa/

CUSTODIAN POSITION AVAILABLE

The City of Sutherland is now taking applications for a part-time custodian position at the Gen NB Baker Library. This position is for 2.5 hours a week. Interested applicants can contact City Hall for a full job description. Applications can be picked up at the City Hall located at 110 Ash St. or printed from www.sutherlandiowa.com.
