Town Hall Meeting

There will be a Town Hall meeting on Monday, June 25th at 7:00 p.m. at the R.L. Johannsen Center

The topic of conversation will be city personnel.

The public is encouraged to attend and have a conversation with the Council regarding any questions or concerns regarding this topic.

General N.B. Baker Library Director

The Sutherland Public Library Board of Trustees is currently seeking an individual to fill the position of Library Director. We are seeking a creative, energetic individual who is excited to lead, direct, design, and deliver existing and new programs. The candidate is willing to take risks, which will lead to successful improvements of all areas within the library and community.

The Library Director position is part-time, approximately twenty hours a week, including some nights and weekends.

Expectations: The selected candidate will demonstrate sound knowledge of all library procedures and provide strategic direction for all operations of General N.B. Baker Library.

  1. Enthusiastic and responsive to patrons.
  2. Develop, implement and assist in library programs.
  3. Select and purchase new materials.
  4. Keep and maintain the library, its collections and records.
  5. Organize and up-date all library materials.
  6. Research and introduce new technology.
  7. Actively pursue grants and other funding opportunities.
  8. Maintain library certifications at the highest tier.

The hourly wage will be determined by experience. The trustees seek someone who is certificated by Iowa Library Services or able to do so within two years.

Position will remain open until filled. The position is effectively open June 19, 2018.

Part-time City Clerk Opening

PART-TIME CITY CLERK OPENING

The City of Sutherland, Iowa is seeking a city clerk – Basic knowledge of city government helpful – Must have bookkeeping, payroll, spreadsheet and computer skills. Send resume and application to Mayor City of Sutherland – PO Box 8 – Sutherland, Iowa 51058. Applications can be picked up at the City Office at 110 Ash St, Sutherland or printed from this site. Applications accepted until June 30, 2018 – 4:30 PM. Applicants must live within 20 miles of the Corporate Boundaries of the City of Sutherland.

Utility Bills

Utility bills are due the 10th of January, April, July and October. If the 10th lands on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday payments will be accepted as on time until noon the 1st Monday after the 10th. At noon, late fees will be assessed to all outstanding balances.

Example: Bill due Sunday, April 10th. All customers will have until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11th to get there payment to City Hall. All payments received after 12:00 p.m. will have a late fee charged to the account. Please get it to City Hall before the clerk goes to lunch!
